Savings AccountsDakota Dreams Savings AccountThe Dakota Dream Savings Account is set up to help families invest in their futures. Every dollar you deposit to the account will be matched by a minimum of two dollars to help you financially plan for:
- Owning a home
- Starting a business
- Furthering your education
Who is Eligible?
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must live in South Dakota
- Must earn less than $20,800 for a single-person. You can make an additional $7200 for each household member.
How Do I Get the Match Money?
- Deposit at least $25 into a Dakota Dream Savings Account each month of participation.
- Enroll in self-sufficiency case management and meet regularly with a self-sufficiency case manager to set and work toward personal and financial goals.
- Complete 10 hours of financial education.
- Complete 8 hours of specialized asset training based on your savings goal.
How Do I Get Started?
- Contact the appropriate Dakota Dream Savings Fund coordinator to apply or for more information.
- For residents living in Lincoln, Minnehaha, Grant, Deuel, Codington, Hamlin, Clark, Kingsbury, Brookings, Miner, Lake, Moody, McCook or Turner Counties, you will need to contact Vicki Bergjord with Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership at 1-800-833-8736 or by email at vbergjord@interlakescap.com
- For Aurora, Bon Homme, Brule, Buffalo, Charles Mix, Clay, Davidson, Douglas, Gregory, Hanson, Hutchison, Jerauld, Jones, Lyman, Mellette, Sandborn, Todd, Tripp, Union and Yankton Counties, you can contact Kaylene Marts with Rural Offices of Community Services at 1-877-254-6110 or by email at kmarts@hcinet.net.
- Open a savings account with us or another participating financial institution.
- Start your financial literacy training.
- Use your savings to fund your dream.
The Dakota Dream Savings Fund is managed by Northeast South Dakota Community Action Program, Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership, Rural Office of Community Services and Western South Dakota Community Action, Inc.
